One of the most known Kildare Forest Walks. Donadea Forest Park is situated in northwest Kildare and comprises of approximately 243 hectares of mixed woodland. It is part of the old Aylmer family estate. Here are many historical features including the remains of the castle, walled gardens, church, tower, ice house, boat house and Lime Tree Avenue. There is also a 2.3 hectare lake with ducks and other birds and a wonderful display of water-lilies in the summer. Walled streams form part of the drainage of the park.
Dondea Forest Park is open Monday-Sunday 8am-5pm. Take a trip to Dondea Park and enjoy one of the great forest walks Kildare has to offer.
There are many different walks through the forest, including the 5km Aylmer loop, the lake walk (wheelchair accessible) and a nature trail with stops. A small café serves light refreshments and is open year round. The park is a designated National Heritage Area. Hikers can also enjoy the diversity of habitats, the walled stream, the lake, the castle, and the church, to mention a few.

From the hotel, head west, turn right toward Straffan Rd/R406, turn left toward Straffan Rd/R406, turn right at the 1st cross street onto Straffan Rd/R406, turn left onto Main St/R148, continue straight onto Parson St/R408, turn right onto Newtown Road/R408, slight right onto L1010 (signs for Donadea), continue onto Barberstown Rd, turn left and you will reach Donadea Forest Park.
