The Glenroyal Hotel is supporting business sustainability and committed to creating a more responsible and eco-friendly environment within the hotel. As one of the sustainable hotels in Ireland, we have implemented several approaches to ensure that we are consistently improving and reducing the negative effect that we have on the environment including EV charging points for electric vehicles. We are committed to reducing our impact on the planet without compromising on the comfort and style that our guests expect from a stay at the Glenroyal Hotel.
The Glenroyal Hotel is delighted to have been awarded the Green Oak Leaf from Into Kildare. The Into Kildare Green Oak Leaf is an initiative which aims to promote sustainable practices that are in place in tourism and hospitality businesses in Kildare. We have implemented the following steps to ensure that we are limiting our impact on the environment through our restaurant and café. We are committed to sourcing and buying responsibly to support our local area.
- All disposable take-away coffee-cups, containers and straws are fully recyclable.
- Encouraging customers to bring their own travel mugs with them to gain an extra discount on their drinks and reduce waste.
- To reduce food waste in our Shoda Market Café we have partnered with Too Good To Go which is an app where customers can buy surprise bags of excess food at the end of the day. This ensures our food waste is kept to a minimum.
- We ensure that we support local businesses by showcasing them within our marketplace and utilizing them in our menu items.
- All our food is purchased from Irish suppliers as much as possible and our menu in The Enclosure restaurant is changed to celebrate seasonal ingredients.
- To help reduce food waste in the hotel, our used coffee grounds are being used as 'green compost' in the flower beds around the hotel. This will not only help us reduce our waste but it will also help our plants flourish.
In Ireland, sustainability is on the rise, with electric vehicles (EVs) at the forefront. Fueled by government incentives and a growing charging infrastructure, EV adoption is growing across the country. From cities to rural areas, EVs symbolize Ireland's commitment to reducing emissions and combating pollution. By embracing renewable energy, EVs are driving Ireland towards a greener future, one charge at a time.
At The Glenroyal Hotel we believe in supporting the growth of EV usage. There are several EV charging ports available for guests of the hotel and leisure club. They are located next to the Leisure Centre.
