Glenroyal Hotel will always find a way to make you and your loved ones feel right at home. Our hotel is surrounded by many family attractions, with Kildare Maze being only a short drive away.
Kildare Maze is Leinster’s largest hedge maze located just out in Prosperous, North Kildare. Growth of the hedge maze began in the late 1990’s to mark the Millennium before being opened to the public in 2000. The hedge maze itself is designed in the shape of a St.Brigid’s cross, due to the Irish Saint’s Kildare origin and attendees need to weave around all the twists and turns they meet.
The monstrous hedge maze is 6 foot high, covering approximately 1.5 acres of land with over 1.5 kilometres of paths for people to lose their way in. The Hedge Maze is fun for all the family from young little Toddlers to Grandparents leading to way. For those smart enough to find their way to the centre of the maze, they are awarded with the enjoyment of panoramic views of the countryside from the Viewing Tower, as well as seeing other family members still rambling around the maze.
As well as having their Hedge Maze, Kildare Maze offers a number of other entertaining facilities to keep attendees busy all day long. Having seen how popular the Hedge Maze is, they went on to develop The Wooden Maze. Aimed towards younger children, this all-weather Maze makes for just as challenging experience for those brave enough to enter. Having found your way out of all mazes, play a game of 9-hole crazy golf before testing your balance on the adventure trail without making a mistake.
After a day of running around a maze, one is sure to have worked up an appetite. This is the perfect time to make your way back to Glenroyal Hotel Arkle Bar & Restaurant for some fine dining and relaxation before settling in for the night.
